Perhaps one of the most iconic spots in the country for a couple of generations of old skool writers, as of autumn 2009 the famous 'Dug Out' has come back into use by writers. This is because the building, which was a boxing club for a number of years after the youth club ceased activities, has now been abandoned and (allegedly) earmarked for demolition. Local artiste FLX has a key to the gate so you can arrange to paint 'officially' by contacting him - try finding him on flickr or childrenofthecan.blogspot.com Or you can be a proper writer and hop over the fence and coolly pretend that you have permission. Treat it like any other abandoned building - nothing is sacred - no more heroes - respect to the bombers ~ esto perpetua ~
